Annual herbs, stems angular, erect, 40–80 cm tall. Leaves alternate, ovate, oblong, long-petioled, 3–8 cm long, 1.5–4 cm wide, aristate, glabrous; spines 2, axillary, ca. 1 cm long.
Leaves alternate, ovate, oblong, long-petioled, 3–8 cm long, 1.5–4 cm wide, aristate, glabrous; spines 2, axillary, ca. 1 cm long.
Flowers usually in axillary clusters in the lower part and in dense elongate spikes in upper part; bracts and bracteoles ovate, aristate, shorter than or as long as perianth; perianth segments 5, oblong; stigmas 2 or 3.
Utricles circumscissile; seeds orbicular, ca. 0.8 mm long.

分布

台灣 : a common weed in open waste places throughout Taiwan.
世界 : A native of tropical America, but now widely naturalized in temperate and tropical regions.
